Here is my first Carby story!!! I hope you like it!!!!
Through The Rain:
Summary:Abby starts to miss Carter
A Rainy Thursday evening-Abby's POV:
I sit on my couch as the rain to falls lightly. I sigh and turn on the t.v. and flip through the channels. Nothing good, so I stand up and go into my bedroom. I see a box hidden in the corner of my room and I sigh. It takes me at least five minutes to just walk over to the box. I slowly bend down and open the box. I also know that opening this box is going to bring memories to me, and it's going to hurt, but I keep on. There is pictures on top and gently pick them up and go through them. A picture of us at the beach, a picture of us dancing, a picture of us kissing by the christmas tree and one of us with the whole ER. I smile and keep going through the box. I pull out all sorts of things until I feel something velvet. I sigh once again and grab the small black velvet box. I slowly open it and smile at what is inside. A locket. He gave me a locket before everything happend and told me that I would always and forever been in his heart. I open the locket to see the pictures. A picture of me on one side and a picture of him on the other. Tears start to fall down my face and wipe them away. I know I shouldn't have gone through this box. I put everything back, but keep the locket out. Once everything is cleaned up, I go into the bathroom and place the neckalace around my neck. I touch it gently as more tears fall down my fragile face. That's when I knew it...I couldn't go on without him. I needed John Carter back into my life. I grabbed my coat and ran out the door.
I made it to the El, but it was busy with people rushing home from work in the rain. I sigh and run to catch a cab. Five minutes I finally track one down. I tell the driver the address and not even fifteen minutes later, we're stuck in traffic. I sigh and look out the window....the rain is coming down faster and harder. I look at the street that we're stuck on. Only three blocks away. I give the driver money and jump out the car. I run as fast as my legs can carry me...the whole three blocks. The rain still getting faster and harder. Only one block to go I tell myself. I am out of breath..but I don't care. A truck drives by me and splashes me with more water. I quickly wipe the water away from my eyes and keep on running. I am almost there. A couple of minutes later, I am finally at his apartment. I stop at the gate suddenly. "What if he doesn't feel the same way? What if he already has someone new. It's only been a few months since Kem left him." I finally stop with the what if questions. "You have to take the chance Abby..you already let him get away from you once.....Just do it..you'll feel better," I take a deep breath in and walk up the steps. I ring his doorbell..the rain still pouring onto me. Two minutes later he opens the door and I'm still out of breath from running. "Abby? Is something wrong?" he asked. I sigh and try to catch my breath. "I....I just need to tell you something," I say. "Well do you want to come in?" Carter asks me. I shake my head. "I just need to get out," I say. "Okay," he says and I begin. "I was going through a box of things and I realized something really important. I can't live without you. I love you and I always have. When I am with you I feel like the woman in the world and I want..no need that feeling again. John Carter I love you so much!" I say, with tears falling down my pale face, out of breath and rain falling down on me. I see tears starting to form in Carter's eyes. He smiles at me. "Abby....I love you so much," he says and I smile. I wrap my arms around him and bring him for a hug. Then our lips meet and we kiss...the kiss that we have both wanted..and needed since he came back from Africa. He brings me inside his apartment and I take my coat off. We then meet for another kiss and then another. We end up in his bed, my wet clothes on the floor and make love for an hour. Afterwards, we are curled up underneath the covers....my head placed upon his bare chest. He is stroking my hair which is still damp from the rain. He kisses me gently on the head and I look up at him and smile. "I love you," I say while looking deep into his big brown eyes. Carter smiles at me. "I love you too Abby," He says and kisses me gently on my lips. We fall asleep in each others arms, listening to the rain fall down...knowing that together...we can make it through the rain.
